About Us
Powerplay Catamarans was established by Award winning boat builder and designer James Dewing in 2000 in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. James started building power catamarans of a type unique in the commercial and recreational segment of the power boat market. The beautiful lines and blend of curves made his designs unique, modern and up to date. The range then consisted of boats from between 12.5 and 18 metres.

n the Whitsunday Islands, Australia); a
48 model which is currently chartered at Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic; a 56 model which is privately owned and also located in at Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic. This particular boat was displayed at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, Florida in October 2003; a 56 model, privately owned, and located in Palm Beach, Florida; and three 52 Sportfish versions which include one for a local Townsville buyer; one shipped to Saint Marteen in the Caribbean.
ARTICLE - JAMES DEWING
James Dewing , the Designer and builder of PowerPlay Catamarans. James is a Queensland Department of Transport Accredited Shipbuilder (ASB00/231) and certified Marine Surveyor, has a long history in the boat building industry. James was involved in the Australian entry for the 1983 Americas Cup Challenge as a boat builder, and went on to be involved in the construction and deisgn of a wide range of commercial, pleasure and racing boats.
Export Awards
In 2004 and 2005 Powerplay Catamarans won the Townsville Region Export Award for Emerging Exporter. They went on to become a State Finalist in these prestigious awards.

In 2010, Powerplay Catamarans became PowerPlay Catamarans International and moved its production to Zhuhai, China in order to provide high quality at an affordable price.
Currently under construction, with James Dewing overseeing the project, are 3 of our newest Luxury 60ft catamarans, designed for cruising the world in comfort and style.
